Like New Again

So my last blog post was about these great old shutters that we got for cheap.

We did a very light sanding,
and tried not to think about lead paint.

Then got set to spray painting.

Lucky us the Spray Paint was on sale. We got 4 cans of paint for about 5 bucks!

We laid down some old newspaper,

Now don't worry,
I had already taken out all the coupons,

and started spraying right behind out apartment.

Chris did not take any pictures of me painting because he got it all over his hands and did not want to touch my phone.

We sprayed one side, let it dry 30 min,
then sprayed the other side,
and let it dry for an hour.

Also I sprayed an old cookie sheet.

This thing was nasty anyway and needed to be thrown away.
My plan is to make it into a magnet board for our kitchen:)

I will post some pictures, when I get it finished!

The Before picture.

I know, I know

EWWWWwww......

right in our kitchen,

beside my nice clean dishes.

The after!

Much, Much, Much,

BETTER!!

No more
U-G-L-Y
water heater!

Operation Restoration

So I have been wanting some house shutters.

But... Why?? You ask,
uhhh... cause I need it for my apartment.

But... Your apartment doesn't need shutters! You say!
uhhh... oh yeah its not for the windows

But..... Why do you need stinkin shutters and just GET TO THE POINT!!!
uhhh.... ok:)

Chris and I went to this really cool place in New Orleans called, 'The Green Project.'
When we first pulled up we both looked at each other cause it looked so sketchy.

But... we are daredevils and went on in,
making sure to double check that we locked the car!

It was the coolest place!! They have collected all these old parts of houses.

There are old mantels, doors, windows, kitchen cabinets, and
of course shutters!

We looked at the shutters.
There were some really nice ones and some not so nice.

Knowing me and Chris,
we just went for the cheapest!

For 6 Bucks we bought some old white, paint splotched, dirty, shutters!!

They even already had hinges on them, which made it so much better!

I was so EXCITED!!

Yes, this is me!
I look like one Hot Mess!
I was bound and determined to get those old hinges off and get to sanding!

Chris was making fun of me!

In order for me to reach the top hinges I had to stand on the steps:)

I can't wait until we get to spray paint these little babies tomorrow!

We are going to paint them black and put them in our kitchen to hide our ugly water heater!

I will post some pictures with the finished project!

Miss. Bella

Yepp, you see that
stinky,
yucky,
fat,
yellow teeth,
long clawed,
fuzz ball in the corner,

that's

Miss. Bella

or as my Cajun kiddies say,
that's
little baby Beller.

The school got a random donation of a hamster,
and they decided to give it to our lucky class!!

Yeah Me!!

Actually, I admit I am really starting to like the little rodent.

First of All,
my kiddies LOVE HER!

We have prayed for her,
read a hamster book,
looked at Internet sites about hamsters,

yepp... they are obsessed with her!!

Ok now,
me and Miss. Bella had a little talk this afternoon,

we discussed how much the kids love her,

and that tomorrow she needs to get her little booty out of her little 'football helmet' (which is her house), and do some laps on her wheel so the kiddoes can see.

We have also discussed that she is not going to start squeaking in class,
and she must raise her hand if she has any questions.

We covered all the basics!
Yepp....
as long as she stays in her cage,
and she doesn't go to 'long sleep' (meaning die)

Miss Bella and me are going to be
GOOOOD
friends:)

Do You Have a Hammer?

True story.

On way home from school today my gas light came on.

I stopped at the Chevron gas station that is DIRECTLY across from campus.

The gas station was crowded. Pretty much all of the pumps were full.

I was minding my own business, pumping my gas,
and was actually leaning up against my car.

After having lived in New Orleans, I have learned to always be aware of my surroundings while I am out.

I am constantly looking around and eyeing people.

Anyhoo... so I was leaning up against my car,

when all of a sudden,

a skinny, old, stinky, smelly, probably hadn't taken a shower or brushed his teeth in the last week,
man,

pushed on the other side of my car and made it shake!

It scared me to death! I jumped and let out a little
"Yelp!"

He had rocked my car side ways about twice and then walked around to where I was pumping my gas.

He said, "Did I scared ya?"
My response, 'um... yeah'

Since he was standing way to close to me for comfort I immediately stoped the gas nozzle, going through the process of ending my transaction.
Getting gas was soooooooo not important at the moment.

He went on to tell me,
"Baby you sure'd got some pretty blond hair!'

I did not even look at him, I was moving as fast and as far away from him as possible.

Then he said,
"Don't worry baby, I ain't meant to scare ya."

Right I was getting in my car and locking the door he asked me one more thing,

"Hey now, ya' got a hammer? My car is broke down and I need me a hammer."

I just kept on going and got the heck outta there!!

Yeah right, like I am going to give you a hammer!!
What a creeper!

I mean really? Really?
That works?
Girls really fall for that and go and give you a hammer to help with your 'broken car.'

I can only imagine the things that you really are wanting for that hammer!!

Needless to say,
I WILL NOT be getting gas there anymore!

Ohhhhh the joy of living in the Gentilly neighborhood in NOLA!

What's Up Doc?

This weekend Chris and I have been going, going, and going!

It's been Great!!

On Friday night we had a date night.

Just the two of us,
we went and ate Mexican food!

Which was awesome!

Then we came back and I went and walked with a sweet girl on campus,
and before Chris and I snoozed we watched a movie on the tube!
It was a GGGGRRRREEEAAATTT
Friday night!

On Saturday mornin, Chris woke up at 5:00 to go fishin with some guy friends.

When he left I streeeeeched out on the bed and slept until 8:00!!

It was so nice!!
8:00 is now sleeping in for me,
my body has adjusted to the waking up at 5:30 thing to be at school!

My internal time clock doesn't realize it's the weekends most of the time and I am up at 5:30 on most Saturdays!

Sleeping in set my whole day off to a great start!

I woke up and pittie-pattled about.

Then went up to my school and organized my classroom!
It looked like a tornado had been through there!

I know, I know I am nuts!
But I LURVE getting to go to my classroom on Saturday mornings!
Most of the time I am there alone,
except for the Janitors,
or my sweet friend Delanie,
and I can just focus!

This Saturday in just 2 hours I got,
all my copies made for the next week,
lesson plans done for the next 2 weeks!
Gradebook updated online,
pictures of my kiddoes from this week uploaded off my camera and sent out to the parents,
desks re-arranged,
re-organized my book shelf,
and I hung up new student art work in my classroom!

I am a million more times productive when I can go up there with no distractions and no pressure!

I turn on my computer to a local NOLA Gospel Music station and rock out in my classroom!

It makes the next week at school a breeze!

On Saturday night Chris and the guys had caught enough fish for us to have
a good ol' Cajun style fish fry!

We had hush puppies, coleslaw, mac n'cheese, pasta salad, cornbread casserole, sweet tea,
and of course fish!

Chris made a new buddy!! At the fish fry we meet some new friends and they have a 2 year old son!
He is adorable and just clung to Chris!

His parents were shocked how attached he was to him!

They said that they had been praying for their little dude to make a friend,
they just thought that he/she would be around his age of 2,
not 24!!

It was so cute! He could not say Chris right,
he said the letters all drawn out,

Kkkkkrrrrriiisssssssssssssssss!

On Sunday (today) we did some organizing and redecorating!

While Chris was studying and watching the Saints football game,
I was cleaning and doing laundry!

In between breaks I even managed Chris to re-arrange our stove and fridge!

It looks so much better now!

In moving the fridge, he had to switch the sides that the door opens! Our entire freezer door was taken off and lying on my nice clean counter when I walked in!

He had his tools all spread about on the stove and all over the floor!

But it only took him about 20 min and the job was done!!

Love my Handy Dandy Man!

Oh By the Way,

we can do laundry now!!

We are blessed with our own washer and dryer!

This is the 1st time being married that Chris and I have our own!

We just did our laundry at out parents house when we still lived in Cumming and since we moved to NOLA we have been bumming off of friends using their machines to do laundry!

But now we have our own!!

That's What's been Up Doc!!

Much Deserved

This past week my lucky parents
have been living it up in Panama City!!

They spent an entire week on a beautiful beach,
with some of the best weather!

Chris and I were very grateful that they invited us down to spend last weekend with them.

Last Friday, I ran out of school,
loaded up the car,
and we were on our way to the beach!!

Panama City Beach is only about a 41/2 hour drive from here.

So we made it in no time!!
On our way down Chris and I stoped at a McDonalds to use the bathroom and grab some dollar menu
hamburgers.
I used the bathroom and this is what I found!
A TV in the restroom!
Wow! McDonalds does have class!!

(and yes! I was that person who took a picture with my phone in the bathroom)

We went out to eat at the Backporch at Pier Park!

This chair actually fits Chris!

The Beach was amazing! I have never been to PC and seen the water this clear before!! Plus It was in the high 80's all day so we could stay out on the beach and not even break a sweat!

I have to admit! If there ain't no hurricanes,
Mid-September is the time to go to the beach!

No crowds,
no lines,
no intense heat,
and beautiful water!

Both mornings for breakfast my mom cut up some peaches!
They were sooooo goooood!!
(See, I really am a Georgia girl at heart! Gotta have them GA Peaches!)

In fact, I have been on a Peach kick since we got back from the beach!
I have 2 peaches in my kitchen right now, and those little babies ain't gonna last long!

This is where I ate my peaches and watched the sun rise!

My daddy had to be silly!

Ok, Ok!
Now let me tell ya, the short version of getting stuck in an elevator!!

Chris got stuck in it on Saturday morning. He was only in there for about 10 min until the front desk man came and got him out.

Well, we thought that the elevator was fixed, so on Sunday morning,
Daddy, Chris, and I got in it to go take a walk on the beach.

Well, we got stuck!!

We were in there for about 30 min!

It was fine,
it was fine.

We all were just fine!!

I think my daddy was secretly going crazy on the inside and trying hard not to show it!

I just sat down in the elevator.

The fire department showed up and right when they made it to the top of the stairs to open the door,
the front office man let us out!

We were FREE!!!!

Well, needless to say,
we DID NOT use that ELEVATOR again!

Sadly, on Sunday we had to go home!

Somewhere in Alabama there is a really cool tunnel!
I had to catch some neat pics!

Anyhoo... we had a great time!

My parents got to stay for a whole week!
We got to stay for a day and a half,
but it was much deserved!

Pray for your Husband

Pray that your husband....

....would understand his position in Christ.

... would present himself a living sacrifice (moral purity).

... would be filled with the Holy Spirit of God.

... becomes a man of the Word of God.

... would have the mind of Christ.
(Christ- like decisions, attitude, goals, money, priorities)

... would grow daily in his Christian maturity.

... would put on the full armor of Christ
(resist temptation, quick to repent).

... would be alert to Satan's strategy
(lust for flesh, lust of the eye, pride of life independent of God)

... would be broken before God.

...would have a servants heart.

... would build a scriptural family.

... would be an effective prayer warrior.

... would become involved in an accountability team.

... would become a man of worship and praise.

... would reach out to lost people.

In my women's ministry class, that I have been taking every Tuesday night, we have discussed many matters of the role of a woman in the household.

One of the roles for all wives is to pray.
My professor passed out this sheet of paper with just specific things listed to pray for your husband.

I immediately thought, WOW, I need to post that on my blog!!!

Hope all enjoy!

1 Corinthians 1:4 I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that was given you in Christ Jesus

In-Laws

I am one very luck girl.
The Lord has blessed me with some of the best in-laws.

In fact, I don't even consider them "in-laws"
they ARE just part of my family.

I call Papa,
Papa
and Nana,
Nana.

I call Blakie, Brandino, and Megpie
my cousins.

I call My-my, and Paula
my aunts.

And I call Gary and Christi,
my parents.

Even though no,
I don't call them mom and dad,
they treat me just like their own.

I am so blessed to be surrounded by such a wonderful,
God-fearing,
do anything for ya,
laughin,
hearty,
big and CRAZY,
family!

Yepp...... I'd Rather be a Carder anyday!!

(haha.... that is just a joke to all my Bagley relatives)

This weekend Chris and I surrounded ourselves by our wonderful families
to celebrate the baptism of sweet Blakie.

Now I tell ya what,
I know I was not the only one,

but man did I pray hard for conviction to fall on this sweet boy!!

I prayed that it would be so strong,
that he would not be able to mearly just walk to the alter,
but have to run and jump,
just to get there as fast as possiable!

Thank you Lord for answered prayers!

Thank you for your many blessings!!!

Thank you Lord for welcoming a beloved "red haired Opie"
into your sweet kingdom!!!

A sweet thought is that in Heaven,
we will all rejoice together!

Now that everyone of the Carder's have proclaimed their salvation of accepting Jesus as their savior and been baptised,
we shall all stand in the mist of our Savior and our Lord together!!

Right along with Paul, Matthew, and Mark,
and Noah and Moses,
and Mary and Joseph!

Oh how it gets me excited and happy!!

What a day that will be when my Jesus I shall see,
And I look upon His face,
The One who saved me by His grace;
When He takes me by the hand
And leads me through the Promised Land,
What a day, glorious day that will be!!
